Hyderabad: Following a raid on a farmhouse on the outskirts of Hyderabad last month, Cyberabad police deported 23 of 36 foreign nationals who were discovered to be unlawfully overstaying in India, officials announced on Monday.
Police report that a Sudanese national and 22 Ugandans have been returned. There were twenty of them female.
Six other individuals—five Ugandans and one Cameroonian—will be deported in a week, according to the Rajendranagar zone’s deputy commissioner of police.
The Rajendranagar Zone police and the Special Operations Team (SOT), Shamshabad, conducted an inspection of a farmhouse in Bakaram revenue village on the evening of August 14 after receiving reliable information that some people were conducting an unlawful birthday party there with loud noises.
They discovered 51 foreigners celebrating the birthday party, 14 of them were men and 37 of whom were women. In addition to those from Botswana, Kenya, Cameroon, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Ghana, and Malawi, there were 37 Ugandans, two Nigerians, and three Liberians among them.
36 foreign nationals were unlawfully overstaying in India without valid passports, visas, or other documentation, according to the results of the document verification process. Among them were 29 females.
These 36 foreign people were given Movement Restriction Orders by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Hyderabad, at the police’s request. They were moved to different prisons in Hyderabad and Cyberabad.
DCP reports that 24 individuals turned up their original passports. Twenty people were granted permission to exit India (Leave India) by FRRO Hyderabad, and they were then sent back to their home countries. The other four were held in correctional facilities.
The cops took passport photocopies from twelve individuals who were without documentation. Three individuals were repatriated after obtaining One-Time Travel Documents (OTDs) from the relevant embassies in Delhi.
Continued attempts are being made for the remaining nine individuals by sending letters to the relevant embassies. Six of them have received their OTDs and will return home in a week.
All international nationals have been urged by the DCP to periodically verify the validity of their visas and passports. If a passport or visa has expired, they should renew it right away by speaking with immigration officials.
Before offering accommodations to foreign nationals, landlords must confirm the validity of their tenants’ passports and visas. He advised proprietors to promptly re-verify the tenants’ documentation for rooms that have previously been rented.
According to the DCP, any foreign individual who is discovered living in India without a valid passport or visa must be reported right away to the closest police station.
