Lahore: The jail administration stated on Thursday that Imran Khan, the former prime minister of Pakistan, is in “completely good health inside Adiala Jail,” dispelling social media rumors regarding his health. Imran Khan’s health has been communicated to the leadership of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The Adiala Jail management said in a statement released here on Thursday that the PTI head is receiving all essential attention.
Since August 2023, Khan, 73, has been incarcerated in several cases. Unverified reports of Imran Khan’s death have been published by a number of X social media accounts, and some international media outlets have also covered the purported health rumors. On Thursday morning, “Where is Imran Khan?” was another popular trend on X. According to the statement, there is no truth to the rumors regarding his health that are going about on social media.
The development coincides with the fact that Imran Khan’s three sisters have been questioning the former prime minister’s whereabouts for the past six weeks after he has consistently refused to meet with them. Additionally, they held sit-ins in front of the Adiala jail. The authorities of Adiala Jail also emphasized that there is no truth to the rumors that Imran Khan was moved from Adiala Jail. “Imran Khan is in good health at Adiala Jail. The PTI has insisted that the government promptly set up a meeting between the former prime minister and his family and eliminate the undeclared ban on Imran Khan’s gatherings. The PTI demanded in a statement released early on Thursday on X that the interior ministry and the current administration categorically deny and explain the rumor and set up a meeting between Imran Khan and his family right away. The party urged that the state give a formal and public statement about Imran’s health, security, and current situation.
It also requested that the facts be revealed to the country and urged the state to look into who was spreading delicate rumors. “Any ambiguity about Imran Khan’s standing would not be tolerated by the country. According to the PTI, the government bears direct responsibility for safeguarding Imran’s security, human rights, and constitutional rights. The party pledged to use all available legal and political tools to dispel these rumors and reveal the truth.
Meher Bano Qureshi, a PTI leader and the daughter of former foreign minister and PTI deputy chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, expressed concern over rumors about Imran Khan’s health on X. The government has an obligation to provide an update to the country and is in charge of Khan Sahib’s safety.
Allowing Khan Sahib’s sisters, attorneys, and party members to meet with him is the finest and most trustworthy method to eliminate these rumors, according to Qureshi. It’s interesting to note that Maryam Nawaz’s Punjab administration has administrative authority over Adiala Jail. The daughter of three-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has already said that she has no authority over Khan’s meetings. Khan previously asserted that the Adiala Jail issues are under the command of an army colonel.
