SANGAREDDY: A guy who had been absent from his family for fifty years has returned to Bopanpally village in the Sangareddy district’s Jharasangam mandal. His family and the townspeople thought he had passed away for decades, as is typical when someone goes missing and doesn’t show up for a number of years. In an unexpected change of events, however, 65-year-old Kammari Sanganna recalled his ties to family and friends as he strolled back into his hometown.
Bopanpally villagers were shocked to see Sanganna and asked him about local and family concerns to make sure he was who he claimed to be. After all these years, they were thrilled that he had come all the way from Maharashtra to see them. Sanganna is one of Mohanamma and Kammari Nagappa’s four sons. After a fight with his parents, he moved out of the house when he was fifteen. He made his way to the Maharashtra area of Nashik, where he made his home. Sanganna married a woman from Malegaon taluk’s Chandramaninagar hamlet while he was employed at a dhaba. His wife and three children, including a daughter, survive him. Sanganna claimed that after being absent for fifty years, he felt the impulse to go back to his hometown and did so on Friday.
According to Sudhakar Reddy of Bopanpally, who spoke with the Deccan Chronicle, the locals were taken aback and moved by Sanganna’s homecoming. He claimed that during chats, his childhood pals recognized him. Sanganna can understand Telugu well, but he cannot speak it fluently due to the 50-year gap. He revealed to the locals that he had written his family multiple letters throughout the years but had never heard back.
Veeranna and Shivanna, Sanganna’s two brothers, have made Hyderabad their home. His older brother Kalanna, as well as his parents Nagappa and Mohanamma, have passed away. The only people still residing in Bopanpally are Kalanna’s children. In addition, Sanganna presented his father’s name on his Maharashtra Aadhaar card as identification. He promised to return soon, this time with his family. Sanganna was greeted cordially by his boyhood pals, who expressed happiness at seeing him again after a long absence. Other families with missing members now have hope thanks to his surprising return after 50 years.
