Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy ordered officials to maintain a high level of alertness after reviewing the situation following Cyclone Montha on Wednesday. As paddy harvesting continues and grain is drying in various locations, the Chief Minister gave officials instructions to take the appropriate safety measures to avoid any harm. Additionally, he directed the procurement centres for cotton and paddy to make the necessary preparations. With torrential rains battering Hyderabad and other areas, the CM stated that the cyclone’s effects are expected to be particularly severe in the former Khammam, Warangal, and Nalgonda districts. All department employees were instructed by Revanth Reddy to remain alert and accessible at the field level.
The chief minister requested that officials make alternate plans for passengers in the event of train interruptions, such as the stoppage of the Golkonda Express at Dornakal and the Konark Express at Gundratimadugu. For efficient rescue and relief efforts, he directed district collectors to work in tandem with SDRF and NDRF staff. The Chief Minister also directed officials to keep an eye on the water levels in tanks, ponds, and reservoirs and to release water in a controlled manner after alerting local employees beforehand. Sandbags should be prepared ahead of time for fully filled reservoirs, he suggested. For safety, police and revenue authorities must erect barricades and limit traffic on causeways, low-lying bridges, and waterlogged roadways.
Static rainwater can spawn mosquitoes and cause illness epidemics, Revanth Reddy said. He gave the Health Department instructions to stock enough medications and establish medical camps where necessary, and he gave the municipal and panchayat sanitation workers instructions to keep the area clean. In order to reduce the loss of life, property, and cattle, the chief minister underlined the importance of coordination between the departments of Revenue, Electricity, Panchayat Raj, R&B, Health, Police, Fire Services, and SDRF. He also gave the Hyderabad Fire Services, GHMC, HYDRAA, and SDRF personnel instructions to react quickly to public complaints during the cyclone’s impact.
