Warangal: According to police superintendent Sudheer Ramnath Kekan, concerted efforts by the police, district government, and media would ensure the success of the big Sammakka–Saralamma Jatara, which is set to take place in Medaram from January 28 to 31 next year. On Thursday, the SP convened a coordination committee meeting with media representatives in the Mulugu district, accompanied by Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Shivam Upadhyay and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ravinder.
Speaking during the meeting, SP Kekan stated that the administration is getting ready for a massive attendance, with an estimated 1.5 crore devotees anticipated to attend the four-day celebration. Ten thousand police officers will be used to control the gathering and guarantee pilgrims’ comfort and safety. He said that, based on past festival experiences, every safety measure is being taken to avoid unfortunate events. For construction close to the Sammakka-Saralamma platforms (Gaddelu), a thorough master plan is already underway.
The police department is updating the queuing system to enhance the darshan experience and shorten wait times. Devotees will be able to enter through eight queue lines and exit through three designated gates thanks to the addition of five more queue lines.
In order to alleviate traffic congestion, a persistent problem during the Jatara, strict measures are also being planned. The SP requested public participation with the traffic plans and issued a warning that traffic violators will face consequences.
Speaking to the media representatives, SP Sudheer Ramnath Kekan said that in order to facilitate easy mobility and coverage during the festival, the police are thinking of issuing special vehicles and identification cards. He asked the media to report any problems and offer helpful recommendations for prompt solutions.
