Nalgonda: On Monday, Telangana Rythu Sangam called on the irrigation department to publish a schedule for the water supply from the Khammam district’s Wyra reservoir during the Rabi season. To support their demand, members of the Rythu Sangam sent a memo to the irrigation department’s superintendent engineer. Speaking at the event, district secretary Bonthu Rambabu stated that the recent cyclone and a lack of fertilizers had reduced crop production, resulting in large losses for farmers. Rabi agriculture may be further delayed, he continued, because of the uncertainty surrounding the flow of water from the Wyra reservoir due to current modernization projects. In order to alleviate farmers’ concerns, he requested the irrigation agency to promptly publicize the water delivery schedule.
