Hyderabad: The news that the Governor had permitted the ACB to file a chargesheet against party working president K.T. Rama Rao in the Formula E race case put additional pressure on the BRS, which has been attempting to reorganize following its defeat in the Jubilee Hills byelection earlier this month. The party swiftly united behind Rama Rao, denouncing the Congress government and charging it with persecuting Rama Rao for challenging the government’s shortcomings.
Senior party leader T. Harish Rao spearheaded the movement, questioning the timing of the approval and stating, “This is one more attempt to throttle and intimidate KTR and silence him from holding the government accountable in the run-up to the expected elections to the local bodies.” No number of fictitious or illegal cases against KTR will stop him from challenging the government’s shortcomings.
The controversy over the BRS’s long-standing charge of political coordination between the Congress and the BJP, as well as the Congress’s accusations that the conspiracy was between the BJP and the BRS, was rekindled on Thursday. The BJP could not have asked for the governor’s approval at a better moment. Following the announcement of the results of the Jubilee Hills by-election, the BRS claimed to be the only genuine opposition in the state, particularly after the BJP finished a distant third.
The Governor’s authorization offers the BJP the opportunity to claim that it has nothing to with the BRS, and begin putting pressure on the Congress government to act rapidly to establish its claims of corruption and diversion of money by Rama Rao in the Formula E race case.
The development also gives the BJP a chance to renew its accusations that the Congress and the BRS are corrupt parties and to assert that it is the opposition that the public can rely on. Other BRS members hurried to defend Rama Rao, including party MP V Ravichandra and BRS leader in the Rajya Sabha K.R. Suresh Reddy.
