New Delhi/Patna: Union Home Minister Amit Shah claimed on Saturday that the Opposition led by the RJD will “bring back jungle raj” and the “Modi-Nitish combine” will “develop Bihar” in the upcoming Assembly election. Due to bad weather, the former BJP president was unable to physically attend three rallies in Patna’s Gopalganj, Samastipur, and Vaishali parliamentary seat, which is home to Union minister Chirag Paswan.
Mr. Shah invoked the “high-handedness” of Sadhu Yadav, the estranged brother of former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi, in Gopalganj, the hometown of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, to warn the populace that if the opposition party regains power, jungle raj would return. “This election is a chance to choose who will be in charge of Bihar’s destiny. Those who introduced jungle raj are on the one hand. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on the other side, have contributed to progress,” Mr. Shah stated.
“Since 2002, Gopalganj residents have never cast ballots for the RJD. They will definitely continue the trend. The people of Gopalganj are the ones who are most familiar with Sadhu Yadav’s kaarnaame (misdeeds),” he continued. When her sister served as the state’s chief minister, Mr. Yadav, who had served as Gopalganj’s MLA and MP, was known to have a great deal of influence. He was held accountable for a number of instances, including stealing automobiles from a shop while Misa Bharti, Rabri Devi’s eldest daughter, was getting married in 1999. At a rally earlier this week, Mr. Modi again brought up the incident, but he did not identify the person.
The Shilpi Gautam murder case, which occurred that same year, was another instance where Mr. Yadav’s name surfaced. Prashant Kishor, the founder of the Jan Suraaj Party, recently made headlines when he accused Samrat Choudhary, a former RJD leader who is currently the state’s deputy chief minister and a member of the BJP, of collusion in the case. The names of the central Bihar villages that made headlines during the RJD rule for massacres occurred during a time when several districts of the state were embroiled in a violent conflict between private militias of upper-caste landlords and banned Naxal groups. The Union home minister also provided this information.
Mr. Shah also discussed the pledges made by the ruling NDA in the manifesto that was made public the day before. “I want to restate two key points from the manifesto: one for women and one for farmers. ~10,000 was recently placed into the accounts of 1.41 crore ‘Jeevika Didis’ by Mr. Kumar and Mr. Modi. In various ways, they will distribute up to Rs 2 lakh to every Jeevika Didi Second, we provide 27 lakh farmers in Bihar with Rs 6,000 annually. We will now add Rs 3,000 to this, making the total Rs 9,000,” he stated. Additionally, Mr. Shah stated that within the next five years, all of the state’s sugar mills will reopen. The Union home minister attacked Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, at the gathering in Samastipur, saying that he “tried to protect infiltrators” by organising the “Voter Adhikar Yatra” a few months prior.
“As many yatras as Mr. Gandhi wants to remove should be allowed. Every single invader will be forced to leave the nation. That is the goal of the special intensive revision (SIR), and we applaud the Election Commission’s choice to conduct the exercise nationwide,” he stated. Mr. Shah also discussed the Sitamarhi district’s Punaura Dham project. At a cost of Rs 85 crores, the shrine located at the birthplace of the goddess Sita is undergoing renovation.
“The work will be completed, positively, in two years,” he stated. Speaking at a rally at Hajipur, Vaishali, the senior BJP leader accused the Congress of always using B.R. Ambedkar’s name and claimed that “the party has always insulted Baba Saheb.” While in power, it prevented him from receiving the Bharat Ratna. Mr. Shah also honoured the late Ram Vilas Paswan, the tallest Dalit politician of his generation in Bihar and a record-holding representative of Hajipur in the Lok Sabha. The NDA would expel all illegal immigrants who are stealing “food, home, and job opportunities” from the people of Bihar, according to the Union home minister.
