The Army reported that 70 persons had been recovered so far and that over 50 were still missing as rescue efforts in Uttarkashi, which was devastated by flash floods, reached their third day on Thursday, August 7, 2025. Authorities have made the safe evacuation of stranded pilgrims from the Gangotri Dham a top priority as rescue efforts pick up steam in the Uttarkashi district’s cloudburst-affected area. According to Jalgaon Collector Ayush Prasad, 16 people from the Jalgaon district of Maharashtra are still unaccounted for. Given that multiple hotels were being built at the location of the flash floods, workers may also be among the missing in addition to residents and visitors.
