A man from Bengaluru was arrested for threatening to blast the metro

BENGALURU: Bengaluru police detained Rajiv, a 62-year-old diploma holder, for allegedly threatening Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) over email. The accused addressed the threatening letter to the official BMRCL mail address. Rajiv, a resident of Belthur in Bengaluru city, was arrested after Bengaluru police filed a case and started their investigation in response to a complaint from BMRCL officials.
According to police investigations, accused Rajiv has been receiving treatment at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) in Bengaluru for the past five years due to his mental instability. Rajiv, a divorced man, rented a room and lived alone. His friends, family, and relatives provided him with daily necessities and a means of subsistence. The defendant appeared in court.
