Following a collision with a two-wheeler in Kurnool district on Friday, a private bus travelling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru took fire, killing 19 people—including the biker—the majority of them were burnt to death. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and his Telangana counterpart A Revanth Reddy all voiced their sorrow over the tragedy. Officials called forensic teams to gather DNA samples from the deceased because some of the bodies were so severely burned that they could not be identified. Because it happened at night while they were asleep, many passengers were unable to escape the catastrophe.
