Gaganpreet Kaur’s judicial detention is extended by the court until September 27

New Delhi: Gaganpreet Kaur, the driver of the BMW that killed 52-year-old Finance Ministry officer Navjot Singh, had his judicial custody extended until September 27 by the Patiala House Court in Delhi on Wednesday.
According to the complainant’s attorney, advocate Atul Kumar, the court has also postponed Gaganpreet Kaur’s bail request until Saturday.
“The bail application has been postponed by the court until Saturday. Investigation and sub-judice are required. Right now, it won’t be appropriate to remark on this,” Kumar told PTI.
After the accused entered a plea, the court also issued a notice to preserve CCTV camera footage from the recent BMW crash. On Thursday, this issue will be heard.
When the BMW SUV, reportedly driven by Makkad, struck the center verge at Dhaula Kuan on Sunday, it collapsed and collided with Navjot Singh, deputy secretary at the Union finance ministry, and his wife, Sandeep Kaur, who lived in Hari Nagar in west Delhi.
The pair was rushed to a hospital some 19 km from the crash site, but Singh succumbed to injuries shortly after arrival.
After appearing before a magistrate on Monday afternoon, Gaganpreet was taken into custody and placed in two-day judicial custody.
Gaganpreet’s attorney said in her bail request that she has complied completely with the inquiry, has strong social ties, and is unlikely to flee or alter the evidence. She further emphasized that she has no criminal history and is the mother of two young girls.
Additionally, her attorney has resisted the police’s request for remand, arguing that the FIR registration was delayed by ten hours.
Although the event is regrettable, her attorney has also contended that, according to an NDTV report, there are about 5,000 incidents reported nationwide each year.
A DTC bus that struck the two-wheeler and an ambulance that allegedly passed by should also be included as an accused in the case, the attorney added.
